Luna moth, what is it good for? Something

 




The luna moth my husband and I saw on our side porch screen caused us to conduct research.

The research was short, much like the luna moth’s life span. It lives for about a week after it leaves its cocoon as a moth, National Geographic said.

The luna moth doesn’t eat. It plays a role in pollination, though.

Luna moth – important for something.

  Sharing other people’s stories with readers helps me as a writer to learn, too. Nearly ten years ago, I wrote a story about a young adult who grew luscious tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, peppers and more -- on straw bales. At the time, my husband and I had settled into our home that has over an acre of land, but no garden because of various concerns (bad soil, deer, trees). 'If at first you don't succeed...'

  I tried for days to fulfill my hunt for a monarch butterfly to take a photo of in which to accompany an article I wrote for a magazine. Monarch butterflies are on the decline for various reasons, including diminished habitats, but I searched on. Alas, I didn't get a photo taken before my article deadline, but a few days later, while I was taking a walk near my home, I saw bees and butterflies buzzing around what I describe as a grassy area off the road. Monarchs!!! One obliged just long enough for me to get this picture.
